The Tenement Series is an homage to our immigrant forbears. Some of the works are semi-autobiographical, as they include photo transfers of family photographs. This mixed media collage is a celebration of my Zayda (grandfather) who emigrated to the United States from Russia. He came to Philadelphia and after many years of hard work brought his wife and and children to join him and eventually opened this neighborhood grocery store. Materials used are photo transfers, rice paper, newspaper and acrylic paint.
